Yellowstone Day 1: Sunday, Teton Village Mountain Resort/Moose Junction

After the long drive there, we had a slow morning and decided to stay fairly close to the "resort".

First stop: Coffee! We loaded up and drove into Jackson to find some caffeine for us addicts. :-)
Grandpa and Cousin Lindsay were nice enough to tag along with us.
After a quick stop in Jackson, we headed to the Teton Village Mountain Resort.
We decided to take the tram up to the top of the mountain.

Cousin Lindsay and Auntie Sarah posing for a picture before heading up on the tram (or train, as Jana calls it).

Here are Great Grandpa Ray, Great Aunt Boo, the girls and I, all set to head up the hill.
Daddy and Jana on the tram.
Bye, bye Grandpa and Uncle Dave!
Looking back down at the resort as we climbed higher and higher.

A little family shot of Uncle Patrick, Auntie Sarah, and Ari at the top.
These two little girls are going to be quite a handful when they get older. They had the most wonderful time together on this trip and were quite inseparable.

We headed back down the hill as a storm started rolling in. We decided to have a picnic lunch before we left.
The girls decided to get some exercise and had a wonderful time running around.

The girls had a blast and Jana decided it was time to take some pictures. Here is Jana's perspective on the world... or at least her perspective on her sister.

Then we headed off to the Chapel of the Transformation, which is a neat old chapel that has an amazing view.

Truly gorgeous, but this is as close to seeing it as I got, because I was here with a sleepy girl...

After that, some of us headed back to the "resort" while others headed out on a horseback ride. We all got treated to a pretty awesome thunder and lightening storm. Daddy was out on a bike ride and had to bust butt to out run the storm, that opened up just as he walked in the door. Grandma, Sarah, and Jenny (and all of Jenny's family) were out on the horseback ride when they encountered the storm. It was pretty impressive... but luckily Jana, who is horribly afraid of thunder and lightening, slept through the whole thing.

That evening, we headed out for an authentic chuck wagon dinner. It was amazing. Everything was cooked in dutch ovens over open fire. Mmmmm! Yummy!

The girls were slightly wound up after so many hours in the car and greatly enjoyed running around and being crazy... and finding some rocks to play with.
And oh my, were they filthy!

Grandpa gave Kara Uncle David's brand new, very white OSU hat.
How ever cute she is in it, the hat was definitely not as white when David got it back. :-)

On the way home that night, we encountered one of the most amazing sunsets I've ever seen. Pardon the ridiculous number of pictures of the sunset. It was gorgeous and seemed to change every few minutes. Plus, there were quite a few cameras there, so I also get to enjoy everyone's slightly different view of the sunset.

Uncle Kenny and Aunt Betty made the trip, too, and we greatly enjoyed their company.

The slightly water-logged cousin Lindsay, looking beautiful while enjoying the sunset.
An adorable picture of Uncle Patrick and Auntie SarahThe bride and groom enjoying a quiet moment together on the night before the wedding.

Aren't they sweet?
