Block Party on the 4th

We had a somewhat quiet 4th this year. We just stuck around the neighborhood for the block party. Some of our neighbors put out their kiddie pools and Jana and Kara had a blast playing in it with a few other kids.

Jana's too funny with her new swimsuit. We got her the rash guard, thinking that she'd be taking lessons every morning all summer and she'd want it. Well, she's not doing lessons since Mama's not teaching, but she insists on wearing this, because her matching suit is a two piece and she's not so sure about showing her cute little belly.

At first Kara decided that the pool was "a too cold", but that was quickly forgotten when she and Jana started playing.

They greatly enjoyed all the bath toys that were in the pool. :-)

Then they decided the best thing to do was to slide into and out of the pool. Goof balls!

There were a couple of other kids playing in the pool, but the girls had a wonderful time just playing together.

After about two hours of playing in the pool, they decided to come back to our house and have some dinner. While Daddy was grilling up some brauts the girls plopped down on the driveway and did some people watching. This was too precious of a moment - it's almost as though when we're not there, they get along great.

And then if that wasn't cute enough, Kara was having trouble getting the last bit of juice out of her juice box, so Jana helped her.
She can be such a wonderful big sister!

Ahh. Our sweet baby.

Then some of the neighborhood kids started firing off some fireworks and Jana ended up as a sobbing heap and went to bed. She fell asleep quickly, but when some later fireworks woke her up, she and I spent about an hour looking at pictures on my iphone while she had ear plugs in and still covered her ears. Kara slept through the entire thing.
