Here in the Northwest, we usually have one week of hot, sunny weather in the spring and then it stays grey and rainy until after the 4th of July.
Last week was our gorgeous week. Oh how we enjoyed playing outside!
The first really hot day, we pulled out the hose and some buckets for the girls to play in. We camped out in the shade of the slide and played in the water with cups – oh how the girls loved it.
Here’s smiley Kara in her swim suit and hat, playing in her small bucket of water. She’s not as big of a fan of hats as Jana is, so she’ll only tolerate them for short periods of time.
She had a wonderful time tasting the water - needless to say, the water went away when Maiya decided she needed to drink out of the bowl. Ewwwwe!!!
Jana, who is obsessed with the pea gravel, enjoyed filling small containers of water and dumping the water into the rocks.
Jana dumped water down her front and wasn’t too happy that she was wet.
The next day, we went outside early because it was going to get too hot to be out in the afternoon. The backyard is very cool in the mornings, with the house casting a shadow over the whole yard; however, in the afternoon, the only shadow to be found in the backyard is the small shadow cast by the fence.
Kara greatly enjoyed her excesaucer being on the patio.
Jana enjoying the coolness in the morning.
After a few days of roasting in 90 degree weather, we decided it was time for a baby pool. We found this one and pulled out the little blow up toys. While it was too cold to get into, Jana loved taking the water from the pool and dumping it everywhere.
Both girls enjoyed this little raft in the pool and Mama enjoyed cooling off in the pool. Jana rocked the boat and almost dumped herself a few times, but Kara figured out how to move the boat around the pool by bouncing up and down.
And finally here’s Kara as she decided to start crawling. She was hanging out on the towel while Jana and I played in the pool and she wasn’t a fan of that – she wanted to get to the pool too.
