First, let's start with the black eye.
Jana insisted upon wearing her bike helmet after Dada walked in the house from his ride, wearing his still. Between ducking to miss Dada attempting to take the helmet off and misjudging the weight of the helmet, her face met the corner of the plastic laundry basket with a bit of force.
Here is the immediate reaction. You can still see the tears and the pouty, pathetic look on her face. You can also see the immediate swelling of her left eye.
This was first thing the next morning. A bit swollen and starting to turn purple. Please also notice the bruise on her forehead that she got at the same time.
Later on Day 2, when the color started to come in. The picture doesn't really do a good job of showing the color because the flash washed all the color out.
A bit more color on day 3.
We missed a day of pictures of it, but here is Day 5 and the bleed out.
And today..
After Grandma and Grandpa had so graciously volunteered for numerous days of daycare, we decided it was time to have fun with them without them having to be taking care of the girls. So the girls and Mama met Grandma and Grandpa at the Wednesday Farmer's Market downtown to walk and have lunch.
Jana insisted on being let out of the stroller (oh, yikes), so she got to walk around - well kind of. Grandpa walked . . . while holding Jana.
When we all get together, these two cannot be separated.
So Kara was able to be moved to the front seat of the stroller. Can't you tell she loves being in the stroller?
I wish I had gotten a picture of it, but it ended up with Grandpa carrying Jana, Mama carrying Kara, and Grandma pushing the empty stroller - so glad we spent so much money on the stroller! :-(
We stopped for a bite to eat and Jana wanted "dilla" (quesadilla). So, Jana and I were going to split it, because it was huge. Unfortunately this was about as close to the dilla as she got.
So, Mama ate most of the dilla and proceeded to work it off by chasing Jana who thinks running toward traffic is a game. (Yikes). You see, for the farmer's market, they close down two blocks of downtown and the vendors set up in the street; however, there are still busy streets at each end of the market. Kara was happily hanging out with Grandma, until Mama came back into sight. This was what I was greeted with as soon as she saw me. Can we say Mama's girl?
Finally, my "Pretty Princess Jana," the tomboy!
This is Jana's "pretty princess Jana" shirt. She loves to wear it. But since the weather is cold, we have to wear a shirt underneath it. When she woke up from her nap (in a puddle again, but that's a whole other story), the pants and shirt went into the wash without hesitation. By the time Mama came back, Jana had this skirt half on and her "Pretty Princess Jana" shirt on without a shirt underneath. It was a bit warmer than in the morning, so it wasn't a big deal.
Then she decided she wanted to go outside to play. She brought me her "blue crocks" (fake target brand crock-type shoes) to put on. I told her she had to put on a shirt under her other shirt, so she brought me one. It's one of those circa-1980s baseball type shirts that has the colored sleeves and white body.
So here is "Pretty Princess Jana" in her skirt, fancy shirt, grubby shirt, shoes, skinned knees and black eye. What a sight!
Then she decided that it was time to play soccer.
And if that wasn't funny enough, she decided to run up and down the wall. Mama tried to get her to realize that it wasn't a good idea because she could fall, to which she replied, "no Mama, I okay." Mama was trying to get up to stop her, with a screaming Kara on hip, when two steps later, splat! A header off the wall. Good thing it's grass below and only 3 bricks high. This kid has no fear.
